UWC Alumni Report: Sophie Smith-Dostmohamed (Class of 2017), a rising talent on the theatre scene

Sophie Smith-Dostmohamed (Class of 2017)Collegiate alumna (Class of 2017), Sophie Smith-Dostmohamed is a queer, mixed Middle Eastern theatre practitioner making an impact in Manitoba’s theatre scene, both on and off the stage. Primarily a performer, she was recently seen in Manitoba Theatre for Young People / Tall Stories London’s digital production of The Snail and the Whale and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s live production of Orlando.

Sophie is also the Associate Artistic Director of Shakespeare in the Ruins and a co-founder / member of Out From Under the Rug Theatre Collective (OFUR), which is currently the company in residence at Prairie Theatre Exchange. OFUR is committed to creating works by, for, and about racialized folks, including Bastard., a solo show that will be produced and created by the collective, and performed by Sophie in the summer of 2022. Sophie is also a proud graduate of the University of Winnipeg’s Honours Acting Program.
